-SAYYID- سيد‎

Sayyid (bahasa Arab: سيد‎ ​) (jamak : Sadah) adalah gelar kehormatan yang diberikan kepada orang-orang yang merupakan keturunan Nabi Muhammad SAW melalui cucu beliau, Hasan bin Ali dan Husain bin Ali, yang merupakan anak dari anak perempuan Nabi Muhammad SAW, Fatimah az-Zahra dan menantunya Ali bin Abi Thalib. Keturunan wanita mendapatkan gelar berupa Sayyidah, Alawiyah, Syarifah atau Sharifah.

Beberapa kalangan muslim juga menggunakan gelar sayyid untuk orang-orang yang masih keturunan Abu Thalib, paman Nabi Muhammad, yaitu Abbas, serta Ja'far, Aqil dan Thalib.

Gelar ini tidak sama dengan nama yang lebih populer seperti "Sa'íd" atau "Said", yang berasal dari bahasa Arab, yang berarti bahagia. kata lain yang sering disalahpahami sebagai sayyid adalah syahid, istilah dalam bahasa Arab untuk seorang martir.

Kata ini (sayyid) secara harfiah berarti Tuan, kata dalam bahasa Inggris yang artinya paling mendekati adalah Sir atau Lord. Dalam dunia Arab sendiri. Kata ini sering ditukar dengan "Pak..", misal : Sayyid John (Pak John). Kata yang mempunyai konsep yang sama (dengan sayyid) adalah sidi (berasal dari bahasa Arab sayyidi) yang digunakan di Arab bagian Barat.

Alevis menggunakan seyyid (di Turki) sebagai penghormatan pada nama dan diletakkan sebelum nama orang-orang yang dianggap suci di kalangan mereka.

Kata lain dalam bahasa Arab yang mirip adalah syekh dan syarif. Keturunan dari Hasan bin Ali yang pernah memerintah Makkah, Madinah, Iraq pada masa Kesultanan Turki Utsmaniyah dan sekarang di Yordania, yaitu Hasyimiyah juga menggunakan gelar Syarif.

Dalam Dunia Arab istilah Syarif digunakan oleh keturunan Hasan bin Ali, sedangkan gelar Sayyid digunakan oleh keturunan Husain bin Ali.

Siapakah Ahlul Bait

Hadis Al Hakim berasal dari Zaid bin Arqam r.a.,

".. Mereka (ahlul bait) adalah keturunanku, dicipta dari darah dagingku dan dikurniai pengertian serta pengetahuanku. Celakalah orang dari umatku yang mendustakan keutamaan mereka dan memutuskan hubungan denganku melalui (pemutusan hubungan dengan) mereka. Kepada orang-orang seperti ini, Allah SWT tidak akan menurunkan syafaatku (pertolonganku)"

Ahlul bait adalah bekal dari Rasulullah

Sahih Muslim: Zain bin Arqam berkata Rasulullah bersabda: "Amma ba'du. Hai sekalian manusia, sesungguhnya aku adalah hamba Allah. Utusan Tuhanku (Malaikat Maut) hampir tiba dan aku harus memenuhi panggilanNya. Aku tinggalkan pada kalian Ath-thaqalain (dua bekal berat). Yang pertama adalah Kitabullah (Al-Quran) , di dalamnya terdapat petunjuk dan cahay terang. Maka amalkan dan berpeganglah padanya". "Dan ahlul-baitku. Aku ingatkan kalian kepada Allah mengenai ahlul-baitku, aku ingatkan kalian kepada Allah mengenai ahlul-baitku, aku ingatkan kalian kepada Allah mengenai ahlul-baitku."

AHLUL BAIT

Keturunan Rasul saw yang melewati jalur anak laki-laki tidak ada sampai sekarang. Karena anak Rasulullah saw yang laki-laki, Ibrahim, sudah wafat saat masih kecil. Yang ada sekarang adalah keturunan melalui Sayyidah Fatimah, isteri Sayyidina Ali (karamallahu wajhah) dengan lahirnya Hassan dan Husein. Dari kedua cucu Rasulullah inilah keturunan (dzurriyah) Rasul sambung-menyambung sampai sekarang. Yang akrab di telinga kita sampai sekarang dengan sebutan "ahlul bait" (keturunan Rasul). Namun perlu di ketahui, tidak semua orang Hadhrami (orang yang berdarah Hadhramaut, salah satu kota di Yaman) itu "ahlul bait", agar tidak salah paham, seperti yang tersebar di masyarakat kita bahwa orang Hadhrami diidetikkan dengan ahlul bait.
